Feelin' Gritty?

I picked up this hair/hat combo a little while ago, but I've been hording it in my inventory, so no one else buys it! No, I'm kidding. I'm just uber forgetful sometimes. Anyhow, I wandered into Gritty Kitty one day after remember the cool scarf I picked up at The Block party and saw the ad for this, and knew I must have it! If you've seen some other posts here, you might remember that I sometimes like to go neko, and this hat/hair was made (I'm assuming) with that in mind. The hair is attached to the hat, and you buy it depending on what hair color you want. I chose this "Frosty" one because really, it's almost 2 in 1, and I had a hard time deciding which one to buy. I love the texture, and the shapes used, it makes me want to pet my own head all day! The grey bands at the top and bottom of the hat are color-change scripted, and you just click on a band to have the menu pop up. No remembering how to make it pink here! Nice :) Each one is $150L, and the demos are free.

Gritty Kitty carries a bunch of other stuff, so have a look: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Koreshan/50/20/25/ Read more!

I've Been Snakeankle Bit!

A couple of days ago Fabala Snakeankle invited people to her shop, Snakeankle Bit You, to get free copies of an outfit to be released soon. The outfit is called "Deadly Stiletto", and was given away in Mistress Evie, a.k.a black, however once released, it will be offered in 6 colors. The set comes with capri-length pants, the shoes, and 4 variations on the top. All the clothing pieces are hand-drawn and have tons of detail. I love the look of laces, rivets, jagged edges...it's done beautifully. This color made me feel sort of rocker/goth, and I paired it with an even lighter skin tone and fangs to wander around as a vampire for a bit (sorry, no pics of that =P). The only piece that wasn't too my taste were the shoes. I don't know whether it was the cut, or the texture, but I just don't like them. These are Fabala's first shoes released, so maybe next time I'll like them.

Snakeankle Bit You also carries silks, flowered swimsuits and other revealing goodies. TP there by clicking here: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Valuta/212/9/28/

Show Me Yours: Costumes

This has been a while in the making, but SL has not been cooperating with me very much lately. I took a bit of a different approach to this one, as everyone's idea of a costume can vary wildly from person to person, based on their day-to-day style.
Our first model, FWord Utorid took an interesting approach. Her superhero-esque costume is based mainly off of freebies and her halo and eye effects were made by herself. That's a great tip, if you can't find something you want, try making it yourself! The hair is by Helyanwe Vindaloo of Deviant Kitties, but I don't think its available anymore. Though if you would like some equally cool hair you can check out Deviant Kitties here: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Deviant%20Kitties/206/144/25/
My second model, you may recognize, is Cynthia Wheeler (check out her fabu new blog SL Fashion Forward, link is on the right =P). This naughty little devil got her costume (minus hair and skin) from one place! The devil outfit is from BabyDoll's Sexy Lingerie Boutique, it includes teddy top and bottom, gloves, boots, pasties, tail, horns and shoulder horns, for $450L. There are a bunch of cute sets at BabyDoll, so take a gander: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Dongjeong/134/19/27/ Our last model is my sister LordVan Hextall. Her costume revolves around her yellow Leia dress from BossaNova, which are $150L each or a 4-pack for $400L. Even though it wasn't meant for a costume, as far as I know, it works well with other things added to it. All of the stuff at BossaNova is very retro, so get your own far out look by visiting: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Dos%20Corazones/80/123/26/ The earrings and bangle came from a $1L freebie retro outfit at Panache Island: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Panache/154/127/38/ And the shoes are $1L from Celestial Studios, and they're just outside the door for a limited time: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Celestial%20City/38/215/26/ Read more!

Accessories by Eolande

Yay! I got my second batch of review goodies today, so I had to tell you about them as soon as I could! I got 4 hair accesories from Eolande Elvehjem, and tried them on
I love my hair, and what goes better with hair than pretty hair accessories?

This first one is called "Elvehjem Star Hair Stick Silver & Peridot". I stuck in a big updo I got from ETD, which is coincidentally reccomended by Eolande, as its the hair store she uses most often and builds her accessories for. It gives just enough for this big hairdo, so it would look fabulous with something smaller, or even a ponytail. This beauty is just 100L.

On to something more exotic, the "Hibiscus Hair Stick" in first blush. I love the color of the flower and the shape and size are just right. Tucked behind my ear, it transformed the same hair into something new. It's only 75L, and is definately worth it.

Then there was a pair of cute barrettes, reminding me of something I would have worn as a child, but still something that would fit in with a lot of my SL outfits. The "Punky Pink Star Barrette" set (yes, 2) are placed equally on each side already, but I prefered to wear only one and move it up a bit. The barrettes are sold for 50L for a pair, or 9 pairs for 350L.

The last treat I have to show you is the "Sapphire and Blue Topaz Hair Stick" set, which is sort of like those chinese chopsticks, when they are worn together. I stuck them in a blonde ponytail sort of style, and I loved how the colors worked together. These are just 50L and could complete a variety of outfits.

There was a notecard from Eolande that said she was starting to add jewelry to her boutique, along with more and more hair accessories. I went there to check out the prices for these accessories and take a look around. There are so many nice things, and all of them are really well made. Also, at those prices, it's hard not to snap up a bunch. You can take a look for yourself at Accessories by Eolande: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Nueltin/200/192/46/

Next Show Me Yours

I've decided that the next Show Me Yours will be costumes. So anyone that is interesting in showing off what they got can leave me a message here or in-world. One request, for this feature, no silks. I want to cover them separately since they seem to have their own fans. Thanks everyone! Read more!

For The Men: Military Gear

Today I dropped in at a friend's store, The Outer Limits, by Digital Glass to check out what he makes. We've been friends for a bit, but amazingly, I never stopped by before, I guess I have my head stuck in fashion =) I knew he made chipmunk gestures, because I have all of them, but I wanted to see what else he offered.

The Dark Ops Stealth Suit makes me feel like someone could sneak up on you in a dark alley and scare the bejeezus out of you. The suit includes: working gas mask, working flash light along with the black outfit. It costs 500L and is well worth it considering what other people charge for similar items. The only thing its missing is cool boots, Digital, make some cool boots!

The Military Field Ops uniform is a camo dream! It also has cooler features than the Dark Ops suit if you ask me. The whole outfit includes: belt-blinking walkie-talkies, a helmet-eye piece, and a wrist computer with the whole cargo pocket look it has going on. This set is 600L. Once again, no boots (this makes Kalia sad).
In case you're curious, The Outer Limits currently offers 7 chipmunk gestures for 25L each, or a megapack with all of them for 150L. And trust me, they're cute!
