This blog will remain up for the time being, perhaps until my account is deleted :)

Heels to Dance In

"Holy moly!" is the first thing that came to mind when I got these shoes from Kittie's Lair. They certainly are a far cry from the boots that have taken the grid by storm.
Platforms as tall as my head, and a diamond stud are just the first thing I noticed.

Of course, like with all Kittie's Lair shoes, the textures are wonderful. Here Babette Ultsch used a glossy black and fun leopard print (with other textures available). These shoes are perfect for exotic dancers, girls who love to hit the clubs, and any other sexy things you can come up with, heck, you'll want to keep these babies on in bed! Oh - and before I forget - the heel comes with a clicking sound which you can turn off and on via dialogue. Not bad for L$ 380 per pair.

There are no major flaws that I could find. The only issue was that they are made with sculpties, and with sculpties there can sometimes be times when the prim itself seems to disappear from a distance. However I have noticed this with tons of sculpted items and don't consider this to be something wrong on the designer's part. Therefore, I would recommend these to people who love high heels with a platform and whom don't mind the occasional sculpted glitch.
These can both be found at Kittie's Lair, and are available in several other colors.

Stop Content Theft!

Please see the post on Essence of SL, http://essence.bamboosoup.net/ about the rampant content theft going on in SL and steps people are taking to put it to an end.

I have witnessed a shop called ".:|Neo|:.", owned by Centuriao Romano, selling ripped Minnu skins, now I am no skin expert, but since I work at MM Skins, I think I can safely say those were ripped from MM Skins, here is a picture of what's there, and what's sold at MM.
Pics after the cut...cause now I know how! (yay!)

From Neo:
And the originals from Minnu Model Skins:

In particular, notice the skin with the red that extends past the eyebrows. After hearing this guy, its obvious he wouldn't be capable of making any skin on his own, let alone of this caliber. If you sell stolen content, you're a thief, it doesn't matter if you stole it yourself, you're in bed with the person who did. Fact of life. Deal with it.

Update, 9:03PM: MM Skins seem to be down but the rest of them are still up. I will try to get some more comparison shots.

A+ For "+plus"

Today I received 2 wonderful shoulder bags (pieces of heaven, I call them) from Helena Compton, the designer behind "+plus". I knew I had to share them with you, because often times in Second Life I can't translate my love for RL handbags into the metaverse's ones. These ones fit me perfectly and look like something I have in my own real life collection. Her shop has several other versions available and she is currently working on a large clutch-style to satisfy even more tastes. If you look at the picture I took of her cart in San Leandros, the purse on the very bottom is available for L$ 1, which everyone can afford! The first purse I would like to show off is the "Black Croco Shoulder Bag" (second from the left of the middle row, in the cart picture). As you can see, its not fully black, there are shades of brown and gray in it. There is some great use of texturing here. I also like the little tassel, how cute is that? The textures match up pretty well and it gives a great patchy look overall.
The second bag is the "Snakeskin Brown Shoulder Bag" which is has the same shape and parts as the croc bag, but a lovely rich brown snake skin texture. It's more uniform color makes it a good staple piece to match may different outfits. With each bag only being L$ 90, you can afford to get several to match all your favorite clothes.
Why not take a look for yourself? Check out +plus in San Leandros today! Read more!

Sweet Baby Time!

So here is the deal (and it's something really important to me because anytime a child is in trouble, it breaks my heart): a friend of Babyhoney Bailey's is going through a very rough time at the moment in RL (she is also an SL resident who always makes me laugh). Her baby boy is suffering from a serious medical condition and can use all the financial support she can gather. In lieu of wedding gifts for Babyhoney's upcoming wedding, and from the goodness of your heart, we're asking everyone to please donate whatever you can through me or Babyhoney, every linden will be given to the mother. She'll be posting the proof on her blog, Cigarettes and Stilettos (http://www.cigarettesandstilettos.blogspot.com/), from her transaction history and whatever else. Read more!

Excited, not Frightened

Yesterday I watched the Miss SL Universe competition from the SLCN.TV headquarters since I apparently am not cool enough to get in to the sim. I thought I'd be bummed out, but it actually was quite fun, probably more so than sitting in the audience (PS, my best girl Babyhoney Bailey won, in case you were wondering). There was about 10 people there and we were chatting and having cofffee as we tuned in to the live feed. Now I happened to sit next to Triangle Caudron, owner of Ghost! and we talked about shapes and other important issues. Now I was sure I had heard of her shop, so today I dropped by one location and picked up one free outfit (yay for free!) and one uber-cute and versatile dress.
This is the free dress called "Dirty Snow" and it was 100% free! It led me to put on one of my palest skins and hair which seemed to match perfectly. I grabbed this picture quickly as I am posting this as fast as possible, I have some SL stuff to attend to. Anyhow, I love that this dress has the top on 2 layers and so makes it easy to pair with other pieces.
Here is the single layer babydoll version of "Antique Kera". This set was 300L and comes with the above skirt, and two others as shown below. There is the double layer babydoll, as well as the single layer skirt. This makes it useable in many situations. The top also comes on all layers making it a bargain. All the designs appear to be hand-drawn so there is a lot of work that went into each item. There are very few flaws (some seam issues) and so overall I would rate both items as 4 out of 5 stars. If you like the hand-drawn look of Nylon Outfitters or Tres Blah, you should really enjoy Ghost!

Un Petit Festin

That means a little treat, and as little as it may be, it's beauty is mammoth. What I have for you today is the 1920's Antique Headress from Chapeau Tres Mignon. I didn't have the right hair for this gorgeous piece but I did my best, and ended up pulling it out a little, which still looks nice from the front. The piece is all prims (as best I could tell) and would suit being paired with a flapper-style dress and a long cigarette holder. I wandered around New Paris with it and posed on the Eiffel Tower. Even though I wore a modern dress, it fit the atmosphere of the sim perfectly. This piece could be used by you fashionista types in more than one way, so let your imagination run wild and you just may come up with something heart-stopping!
The headress is L$ 300 and is available at the flagship store in Dreamworld East. Read more!

3-in-1 Sunglasses

That wasn't the most creative title but bare with me here, I've just moved into my new SLhome and I'm a bit weary. To cover up those dreadful under-eye bags I put on my new JetGloss sunglasses from Suite 17. I say 3-in-1, but really there are 6 versions in this texture change product, 3 colors in 2 styles each, plain and with a reflective highlight. The lenses come in beige, plum and black (I'm making up the name since they're not listed. Even though I'm lounging at home, style is still important to me, but these glasses are so stylish it almost hurts. Damn I'm one foxy looking lady!Craftsmanship on this item is really good, if not excellent. The glasses seem to be photo sourced and then placed on very thin prims giving the illusion that it is all prim-work. Sometimes this bothers me, but not in this case, unless I'm looking from a weird side angle. Then you can see a bit of a gap between the front piece and the arms.I took a pic in all of the 3 colors so that you know what they look like, even though the demos are L$ 1 and the glasses are L$ 250.
Here's the slurl that will bring you right to the display. Aren't I nice?

A Look at Lookr

Wow, it's been some time since my last review, but here it is...something new for you to sink your teeth into!
Adam Soler from Lookr graciously gave me a bunch of his items, including his new release. This first picture shows the Fox sweater in charcoal which comes with the undershirt (a bra really) and a prim buckle. The texture on the sweater is delicate and looks much like a real sweater. A sweet touch is the tag that hangs out the back. My only gripe would be the buckle is kind of bulky, but I played around with it and ended up sinking it in my abdomen a bit. This seemed to make the look more streamlined. You can buy the sweater alone or in a pack of 3 with a chocolate and a vanilla version for L$ 475. The pants are the Lookr Jeans in Canvas Grey. These are some cute jeans, and I love prim bottoms, so I was happy to see it came with a set, and they're only L$ 90. I had to do some adjusting to get a look I like (I'm picky about prims, okay?) but it wasn't hard to do at all. No weird angles here, just easy shrinking. Kalia likes easy...oh hush!
The second picture shows off the DanceDance shirt in Red with Black in the untucked version, which is on the jacket layer and costs only L$ 90, there are seven versions in total. This is a pretty unique piece and I happen to really like the colors. I paired it with the Blue Dark Wash jeans to tone it down a bit. I think the resulting look is casual and slightly bohemian. These jeans do not have prim flares, but they are modifiable so you can play with the look as much as you want. At only L$ 90 once again, thats not a bad deal. Also the pants are both unisex so you and a male friend can match :) Read more!
