A Note:

Many of you know about the passing of the person behind the Ginny Talamasca avatar. I wanted to post something here about what Dazzle and Last Call meant to me. It took me a few days to think things over, and I didn't want to add any more pain to anyone. Even though all my memories are good ones, sometimes those can be too much for those that were closest. Anyway if you care to read my thoughts, here they are:

I first discovered Dazzle Haute Couture when I was relatively noobish and found Linden Lifestyles by chance one day. Immediately I went over to see everything. This was over a year ago, perhaps July 2006. I remember this being the first time I was ever in a huge store, and I had to use my camera to see everything. This was many moons ago, and the shop design itself has changed dramatically over my time in SL. I was so impressed with that visit, that I've been a loyal customer ever since.
Last Call is probably my favorite brand in SL, no matter what style I'm going for, I know there is something there I'll love. It's more than about the clothes, I never really knew Ginny, but had spoken to her a few times for various reasons. She was always very professional and sweet with me, even after an embarrassing moment one time. This reinforced my love for everything she and Lyra created.
I know there are probably many people in-world who are mourning the loss of one of SL's greatest designers and creators. However, her impact on us all, and in SL itself, will live on for a very long time. Each time I wear something she created I'll think of her.
My condolences go out to everyone who knew Ginny, and her real life counterpart. I hope that wherever he is, he's happy and at peace. Read more!

Review of Fetch Alternative!

I've got more pics than usual for you, so pay attention. There is some cute clothes from Fetch Alternative that I want to show. The designers are Vanessa Cardway and Matteus Boa. I was lucky enough to score a pair of jeans that aren't even out yet, and I practically live in jeans, so I am a happy girl!
First up is Female Dark Blue Rippes Jeans. They come in dark blue, black, reddish and blue. They all cost 150 L and are mod/trans. I love clothes that are mod and trans! I'd take mod over trans any day, but both are great for us fashionistas that love to mix n match with our friends.
Second and third are Grey Belt Skirt and Green/Red Plaid Skirt. All skirts by Fetch Alternative cost 120 L. Currently there are 5 singles on sale but are skirts in all full outfits and they are all mod/trans and fit most shapes perfectly. Due to their popularity, Vanessa said she would be adding more shortly.
Last is that pair of jeans I got before being officially released! Female Obscure Flowery Jeans. This isnt on sale yet but will be next week probably. It will also be mod/trans. They are planning to come out with: female bloody graffitti jeans and female paint splatter jeans in the next week or so along with this pair. These will all be 150 L as well.
The store opened in August, it was mainly outfits and skirts. Vanessa just started the jeans line recently. Matteus does mainly the accessories, tattoos and store layout while she focuses on the clothes. Read more!

Charmed, I'm Sure

I've been getting tongue in cheek about these titles recently. But yes, as you may have guessed, this is a post about a cute jewelry shop called Charmed.
Delfina Vacano owns the store and it definitely has a astrological theme to it. The first picture highlights freebie earrings (comes with matching necklace and belly button ring) and a freebie choker. This is great for new and older players.
Then there is the cameo choker which has a tintable ribbon and the letter on the front can change from A-Z. This is cute for for any age group, and I am a sucker for anything tintable. At 150L, almost everyone can afford it as well!
I will bring you the slurl shortly! Have fun checking this shop out. Read more!

Serene Sensations

Ah yes, I'm quite the busy bee lately!
And there is something else I must show you....this dress called Royal Blanc & Blanc from Serene Sensations by Soraya Blachere (who is a sweetheart, I may add). I chose to show it in it's most revealing options which tends to show off the work better than more opaque pieces.
Here the lacey top and underwear are completed with a sheer skirt, stockings and finger-less gloves. The pattern appears to be all hand-drawn, which means that there is incredible attention to detail. There is also some pasties to cover "the girls" a bit more and a more opaque skirt All these pieces come together for a sensible price of $500L.

Time for Some Laynie Wear!

Hi everyone, a double post day! I got some cool stuff from Laynie Link of Laynie Wear the other day and I had to show off this precious bustier/vest of sorts to you.
I have another version of the Teagan somewhere, but this one made me feel like pairing it with a Laynie Wear Gathered Shirt and a vintage Dazzle skirt for a hippie-boho look. It's has an Asian flair to it, and is appropriately named Teagan Bamboo, this is the cream color, but it is also offered in honey, jade and russet. It could be used in a variety of ways, from period clothing to the more modern way I am wearing it. The best part is, its only $100L (I assume it comes with the gathered shirts like the other Teagan vests) !
If you wanna have a look at what else there is (and there is quite a bit) follow my link. Read more!

Souliers Trés Mignon

That means very cute shoes in French. And it's true I have some really cute shoes to show you today! I have 2 pairs from Chapeau Trés Mignon by Megg Demina, which is so far known for its unique hats.
First up are the Leopard Skin Shoes, which are 300L for the pair. But don't let the price put you off, I know other shoe designers charging more for lesser quality, and these are beautifully made. I love the couture look to the shoes, just like all Megg's products.

Second are the Croc Shoes in olive. These too are 300L for the pair. The tassels really stand out on this pair, the gold and olive matching perfectly like a marriage made in heaven. A bit much? Ok. I really love these shoes!
If you can't tell, I have a bit of a problem with buying shoes...they are like my crack. And these two pairs are deeply satisfying. I need a smoke just thinking about it. I'll be outside the main store having one if you want to join me. Read more!

I'm A Pirate...Arrrrgh!

No, I'm not really a pirate. But this pirate set from Shape Your Destiny by Teagan Blackthorne. It comes with the shortie t-shirt, boy shorts, and striped thigh-high socks. A really cute set to wear as pj's at your friend's slumber party or the next club contest. The set is only $45L and if you want an extra v-neck style long t-shirt, its only $65L! That's an amazing deal! A version in black and orange is also available. That would be great for all those upcoming Halloween parties, that's what orange and black always makes me think of...
The back of the shorts are perfectly cut to show off one's best assets. And I love that the back of the shirt also has a design.
If you like the skull and crossbones design but don't want a whole set, you can get black tank tops with white or orange detail for $30L each, or both for $50L.
The store shares a space with Laynie Wear, so drop by to check out two fabulously priced shops. Just click here. Read more!

EL Big-o Sale!

Heehee.
Ok one of best girls, Kimberly Casanova had some bad luck and had her computer die as she was working on her new line of shoes, so of course Babyhoney (my other best girl) and I tell her to have a huge sale to raise money. After the funeral we held she set straight to work, set up her sale tent, and composed this note that she sent to her group:
"That's right guys, my computer died today. :'[ Thank god my sister was nice enough to allow me to use hers to inform. He was pretty old though. It was sudden, there was no suffering. *strokes computer carcass* It's been a pretty depressing day. It totally sucks not having a computer, you have no idea!

After the mini viking funeral we had for him today, I broke down and decided to have a sale in hopes to raise enough to purchase a new one, this is my biggest sale to date. As some of you may know, I am in the process of getting certified to become a nurses assistant, I'm not financially able to just run right out and purchase a new one, otherwise I'd be hooking one up right now. Due to my computer's sudden death, my new line will have to be put on hold until further notice.

Come check out my sale! There may be something that catches your eye! and please spread the word, if you know someone who loves shoes and jewelry.. etc then send 'em on over! Ever little bit helps more than you can imagine.

Thanks for taking the time out to read this, it's mucho appreciated.<3 Kimberly Casanova"

So if you want to help a girl in dire need, then check out the sale here.
Thanks! Read more!

A Look At Kittie's Lair

A few days ago, my friend tp'd me to a store that was owned by someone we knew. Funny thing is, I didn't even know she had a store! So, I was pleasantly surprised when I saw high quality products with a definate club-vibe.

Babette Ultsch owns Kittie's Lair, and uses mainly hand-drawing for all her creations. The style is urban and sexy, with some more toned down pieces as well. Upstairs you'll find a selection of tintable stockings, pantyhose and bodystockings, so be sure to look up there.

I've included some pictures of items that show the range of clothing available, and they are reasonably priced, so there is no reason why someone shouldn't pick something up when they visit. Less than 250L will get you something that's perfectly mix n' matchable, or wear alone.

So stop on by, I bet you'll find something to take home as well. Slurl: Kittie's Lair or enter: Monissius/90/214/28/

Back Up and Running!

So I've settled into a new sim (Fur Liberty) with my store, BODMOD and we've got a lot going on at the moment. I'm sharing the space with iDENTITY, my other pet project with Babyhoney Bailey.
In addition to all the shops, there is a cafe, a burlesque club (The Mandarin) and a nightclub (Hooters-N-Shooters), a fabulous open area and things for you to discover.
PS: We have some big designers setting up shop in the sim, so it's looking like it will be a popular hang out place.

Va Va Voom!

I want to blog something more unusual for me, especially since everyone who knows me knows I have painstakingly design my shapes to resemble me somewhat and be a little different from what is out there. However, when Hedwig Martynov gave me some shapes of hers to look at I realized she's doing something very new. Shapes, like everything else these days, can be big business. However, most shapes you can buy are big chest and bum, height at 100.

Not these ones.

These shapes are created to reflect the real shapes of famous women. The first line covers stars such as Bette Davis and Twiggy.

The first shape is called The Bombshell and is based off of Marilyn Monroe. And the second one is called The Gamine and based off of Audrey Hepburn. These have realistic hips, noses, eyes and tummy fat!

I kept the shapes exactly how they were given to me so you may notice two things: you may not like how I look in these shapes with my skin, that's ok, they're modifiable so you can tweak them to your liking (Hedwig uses the palest of Naughty Design skins herself). Also, the head is bigger than most of my hair is meant to fit, so either resize the head or if you would like to stay true to the shape, modify your hair. I did my best with these pics and no studio. Damn SL =P

So, if I've piqued your curiosity, take a gander at the store: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Retrology/35/82/40/

On the Subject of Review Copies

I can't believe I have enough offers lately to have a review policy! Ok, it's not really a policy, but a suggestion. Recently I found in my email that someone had offered me inventory days ago, but I never got it. Maybe it was that time I crashed at start-up, or SL ate it, but nope, it's nowhere to be found. I'm not the type to ever ask for review copies since I feel like it's not my place to ask for a sample others don't get. It's great to get them of course, but I don't like putting the designer in the place of saying no either.
Anyway, if you'd like me to possibly review something, please send me an IM as well, or a separate notecard letting me know you dropped something on me. I'm going to post this on the sidebar as well.
Thanks so much to those of you who have dropped things on me, I really do appreciate it. Read more!

Minnu Model Skins

I am debuting here some very new skins from Minnu Model Skins by Minnu Palen and Betty Douglas, and I am raving about the gorgeous make-up and shading on these skins! I even love all five tones that I've seen so far! I've chosen to show you 2 very different ones to sort of show you the range that you can expect though there is darker and lighter.
The first is Light Skin- 40's and with the red lips and slightly smokie eyes (and my retro 'do) gives the exact feel of a 40's starlet, which is a look I really love. The red is a prefect shade to compliment the skin tone, it almost gives me goosebumps!
The second one is Mid Skin - Copper. And copper it is! I kept the same hair on for continuity, but it would look much better with a dark brown or black. The eye makeup really stands out to me on this one, the exotic choice of colors that are blended to perfection are incredible.
As for the rest of the body, that's a personal matter. Some people like certain types of nipples or lady bits, and really every person has to see if the skin suits their preferences. However, as I say this, I love all the details on these skins which is really surprising as I'm generally really picky about my skins.
The nipples are nice but not overly realistic and the bits aren't too graphic. I love the shading on the stomach and the collar bones, oh my!
The booty is très delicious as well, is there anything I don't like about these skins? Maybe there could be 3 more hairs on the eyebrows? I'm grasping at straws here. I guess its obvious, I love these skins! The front picture is while wearing the 40's skin, and the back is of copper.

Summer Heels

So, I've been having a fairly busy RL, and am sorry about not letting you all know about the Simone!Design fashion show this past Saturday, but this is another coming up next weekend and I will be posting the information here ASAP.
On to the post at hand, some cute summer heels that will make you feel like dancing. These beauties are from She's So Unusual Shoes by Rowan Carroll. They're called "Gingham CrossToe" and are available in 5 colors including the blue that's shown. A single pair is 75L which is a steal considering how much some other designers charge. It's also worth popping into the store even if these particular sandals don't tickle your fancy, there are a plethora of styles and colors to choose from, everyone should be able to find something they like!
So go have a look around and have an open mind, there are some unusual shoes! http://slurl.com/secondlife/Redux%20NW/147/202/22/

Special Free Stuffs!

Yep that title is a real eye catcher.
Anywho, found out about a drop of limited edition and quantity jewelry sets by Miriel from July 2-9 in a sort of treasure hunt held on the Nouveau sim. Only 10 sets total will be released: 4 sets of Moon will be released, 3 of Sun, 2 of Stars, and only 1 of Empyrean! You must be a member of Miriel's group, Miriel's Latest, in order to know when the sets are put out to be found. The boxes will be very small, but not hidden inside things, so you won't need any fancy camera skills to find them.

Also, there will be regular stone versions of the set on sale July 2. They're priced at L$350 for a single color set, and L$1000 for a collection of all gold, silver, or black with the stone of your choosing. I know I'll be on the hunt for one of the special versions, but if I don't get one, I will run out to buy one of the versions for sale. Maybe 2....okay not more than 3.

Something A Bit...Different

Maybe this is more than just different for some of you, but other people out there might be wearing something similar in SL right this moment, or at home!

This sexy little number is called Orchid, and is from a new store called Fetish Box. They sell a lot of latex (yay!) as well other other sexy items from other designers, but their huge collection of colorful latex outfits is what drew me in. The set comes with everything except the boots and hair. This is the white version, but it also comes in seven other colors. And hello! it's only $300L!!! I love the whole look of this outfit, so I may have to buy the other colors as well, it makes me feel like an anime character - a sexy anime character!
So have a look around, you may see something that catches your eye, and maybe me!

More Theft

Please check out this post by Teagan Blackthorne at Savoir Hair: http://savoirhair.blogspot.com/2007/06/hair-thieves.html which outlines how some people are reselling hair that they copied using either copybot or some other method. While I have nothing against copybot, I feel people who rip other's work off need to be exposed.
Sasy Scarborough also blogged about it at Appearance Mode: http://appearancemode.blogspot.com/ so check that out too. The only way to stop people from copying the hard work of others is to name and shame them, and not buy from them! Let's get the word out.
These hairs being ripped off are both for men and women, so everyone should know about it, let's pass the info on. Read more!

Sexy, Silky, Simone!

Okay maybe not the most original title, but hey, i'm running on empty at this point. This weekend I participated in the Simone! Supermodel competition, and made it past round one, so I figured I show you all what I wore. The dress is by Simone Stern of Simone! and is called Songbird in the color burgundy. I really love how its a mix of east and west, with the asian flowers and bird-like desings on one side. There are 2 versions of the top, one with straps as shown and a strapless. It's also only $200L, which is pretty darn awesome considering the quality of the dress, with its beautiful prim skirt that flows perfectly and not up your back when you walk. 4 other jewel-toned colors are available as well. See Simone here: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Simone/63/108/102/
If you're curious, the hair is from Calico and is called Amy, in the Midnight color, each color pack is $200L, or get all of them for $2000L. Try on some free demos: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Calico%20Kitty/147/125/37/ Read more!

What's been going on...

So my lovlies, I haven't been so attentive to my blog lately, but I have a good excuse, I swear! I'm working on a business with a friend that, once ready, will explain my absence. It has to do with fashion, of course, as well as some other aspects of life in SL. I'll give you more of an update in a couple days, but look for another fashion post tomorrow, I have something great to show you all!

Oh Lucy!

When I was out shopping with some friends the other day, I came across a store called "Marlys" and saw a dress I had seen on another friend previously. One of my friends exclaimed "just like a I Love Lucy dress" or something to that effect. Well, I'm the sort of girl that gets everything in black, so I grabbed the black " Spanky's Spots" dress while my friends grabbed red and blue versions (also available in brown and green). The dress is $225L for a single one, or $700L for all 5 colors. I love the prim poof sleaves and prim belt/skirt. The whole store is retro styles, so yay! See it yourself: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Envy/150/119/22/

I knew I should grab a pair of shoes to match, so later on I brought my friends over to Shiny Things, and lo and behold, the new section contained the perfect pair of shoes to match my new dress. The "Tuxedo Pumps" in white (more of an off white/grey) were $300L and came with the black trim and a pair with white trim. Really thats 2 pairs. My only complaint would be that the black version of these shoes had no only one pair, not 2 for $300L and it would have been nice to have a black pair with white trim. See the other new shiny shoes here: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Shiny%20Falls/186/180/37/

I don't look like Lucy, but that's okay...I think I look better, dont you agree? ;-)

Simply Graceful

Admist a million inventory problems, and crashing several times, I have managed to get a dress out to show everyone, especially since I realized I tend to do hair and shoes more here. I bought this dressed called Grace at Ivalde yeseterday, and then promptly lost it to due the SL servers eating them. Luckily for me, the creator and desinger Neferia Abel gave me another copy so I didn't cry for long. Anyway I managed to snap some pictures of me wearing this gorgeous dress in the cream color. The dress comes with 2 prim skirts, the under-pants (not underpants) and sleeveless top for $350L. Not a bad deal at all! I paired it with some retro style sandals and hair, and ta-da!
I haven't seen this dress reviewed anywhere else, so now you know, go get it and the other amazing retro styles at Ivalde: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Alebi/167/210/22

How Naughty!

With Hair Fair ending in just a few days, I thought I'd give you a glimpse of one of my favourites that I picked up.

This superb design is by Naughty and is just one of their newest hair releases to appear at Hair Fair. The style is called "Imaginary" and like other styles by Naughty Designs, is sold in packs of 3 colors. I'm wearing Warm Sand in the pics, which comes with Starfish and Wet Sand in the pack. I took a look at other colors I saw people wearing, and this style looks equally as divine in any of them. I love the carefree feel of this style, which allows it to be paired with just about any outfit.

The back is a cascade of waves and big curls that made me squeel when I first put it on. I especially love the thin little whispy pieces that pop up at different places. Each 3 color pack is $300L.
You can find this hair at Hair Fair (which ends April 14) here: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Hermit%20Heaven/54/172/26
And if you can't make it in time, at the Influence store on Naughty Island after the 14th: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Naughty/81/117/23/

Feelin' Gritty?

I picked up this hair/hat combo a little while ago, but I've been hording it in my inventory, so no one else buys it! No, I'm kidding. I'm just uber forgetful sometimes. Anyhow, I wandered into Gritty Kitty one day after remember the cool scarf I picked up at The Block party and saw the ad for this, and knew I must have it! If you've seen some other posts here, you might remember that I sometimes like to go neko, and this hat/hair was made (I'm assuming) with that in mind. The hair is attached to the hat, and you buy it depending on what hair color you want. I chose this "Frosty" one because really, it's almost 2 in 1, and I had a hard time deciding which one to buy. I love the texture, and the shapes used, it makes me want to pet my own head all day! The grey bands at the top and bottom of the hat are color-change scripted, and you just click on a band to have the menu pop up. No remembering how to make it pink here! Nice :) Each one is $150L, and the demos are free.

Gritty Kitty carries a bunch of other stuff, so have a look: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Koreshan/50/20/25/ Read more!

I've Been Snakeankle Bit!

A couple of days ago Fabala Snakeankle invited people to her shop, Snakeankle Bit You, to get free copies of an outfit to be released soon. The outfit is called "Deadly Stiletto", and was given away in Mistress Evie, a.k.a black, however once released, it will be offered in 6 colors. The set comes with capri-length pants, the shoes, and 4 variations on the top. All the clothing pieces are hand-drawn and have tons of detail. I love the look of laces, rivets, jagged edges...it's done beautifully. This color made me feel sort of rocker/goth, and I paired it with an even lighter skin tone and fangs to wander around as a vampire for a bit (sorry, no pics of that =P). The only piece that wasn't too my taste were the shoes. I don't know whether it was the cut, or the texture, but I just don't like them. These are Fabala's first shoes released, so maybe next time I'll like them.

Snakeankle Bit You also carries silks, flowered swimsuits and other revealing goodies. TP there by clicking here: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Valuta/212/9/28/

Show Me Yours: Costumes

This has been a while in the making, but SL has not been cooperating with me very much lately. I took a bit of a different approach to this one, as everyone's idea of a costume can vary wildly from person to person, based on their day-to-day style.
Our first model, FWord Utorid took an interesting approach. Her superhero-esque costume is based mainly off of freebies and her halo and eye effects were made by herself. That's a great tip, if you can't find something you want, try making it yourself! The hair is by Helyanwe Vindaloo of Deviant Kitties, but I don't think its available anymore. Though if you would like some equally cool hair you can check out Deviant Kitties here: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Deviant%20Kitties/206/144/25/
My second model, you may recognize, is Cynthia Wheeler (check out her fabu new blog SL Fashion Forward, link is on the right =P). This naughty little devil got her costume (minus hair and skin) from one place! The devil outfit is from BabyDoll's Sexy Lingerie Boutique, it includes teddy top and bottom, gloves, boots, pasties, tail, horns and shoulder horns, for $450L. There are a bunch of cute sets at BabyDoll, so take a gander: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Dongjeong/134/19/27/ Our last model is my sister LordVan Hextall. Her costume revolves around her yellow Leia dress from BossaNova, which are $150L each or a 4-pack for $400L. Even though it wasn't meant for a costume, as far as I know, it works well with other things added to it. All of the stuff at BossaNova is very retro, so get your own far out look by visiting: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Dos%20Corazones/80/123/26/ The earrings and bangle came from a $1L freebie retro outfit at Panache Island: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Panache/154/127/38/ And the shoes are $1L from Celestial Studios, and they're just outside the door for a limited time: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Celestial%20City/38/215/26/ Read more!

Accessories by Eolande

Yay! I got my second batch of review goodies today, so I had to tell you about them as soon as I could! I got 4 hair accesories from Eolande Elvehjem, and tried them on
I love my hair, and what goes better with hair than pretty hair accessories?

This first one is called "Elvehjem Star Hair Stick Silver & Peridot". I stuck in a big updo I got from ETD, which is coincidentally reccomended by Eolande, as its the hair store she uses most often and builds her accessories for. It gives just enough for this big hairdo, so it would look fabulous with something smaller, or even a ponytail. This beauty is just 100L.

On to something more exotic, the "Hibiscus Hair Stick" in first blush. I love the color of the flower and the shape and size are just right. Tucked behind my ear, it transformed the same hair into something new. It's only 75L, and is definately worth it.

Then there was a pair of cute barrettes, reminding me of something I would have worn as a child, but still something that would fit in with a lot of my SL outfits. The "Punky Pink Star Barrette" set (yes, 2) are placed equally on each side already, but I prefered to wear only one and move it up a bit. The barrettes are sold for 50L for a pair, or 9 pairs for 350L.

The last treat I have to show you is the "Sapphire and Blue Topaz Hair Stick" set, which is sort of like those chinese chopsticks, when they are worn together. I stuck them in a blonde ponytail sort of style, and I loved how the colors worked together. These are just 50L and could complete a variety of outfits.

There was a notecard from Eolande that said she was starting to add jewelry to her boutique, along with more and more hair accessories. I went there to check out the prices for these accessories and take a look around. There are so many nice things, and all of them are really well made. Also, at those prices, it's hard not to snap up a bunch. You can take a look for yourself at Accessories by Eolande: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Nueltin/200/192/46/
